Saudi Arabia just experienced a real winter, snow and all, this month and it was nothing short of beautiful.
On the weekend of the 11th January 2020, Saudi Arabia’s north western regions looked like a true winter wonderland as they saw some heavy snowfall.
In the UAE, there was heavy rainfall, thunder and lightning, with floods, whilst the kingdom saw a cold but surreal blanket of white snow that made the region look like something out of a movie.
The kingdom’s region, that borders Jordan, was blanketed with snow and it wasn’t long before images of the scenic landscapes went viral on social media.
A complete rarity in the deserts of the Arab region, Saudi Prince, Abdulaziz bin Turki al Faisal also shared a stunning image of snow covered NEOM on his Twitter account along with a video that showed the snow falling on the mountains of NEOM.
A beautiful sight, and not the first time Saudi Arabia has seen snowfall. In April 2019, the kingdom experienced some spring snowfall which came as a welcome and unique surprise!
We wonder if the country will see more snow in winters to come?
