Today, Saudi Arabia ushers in a new era in which women across the Kingdom are taking control of their journey, literally. Following decades of being prohibited from driving themselves, the ban on female motorists has officially been lifted. In celebration of this landmark moment, AboutHer has created a message in support of this new chapter in the story of Saudi Arabian women.

The decision to lift the driving ban, which was announced last year and has taken effect this year on June 24, is one of the most prominent moves by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. Under his leadership, Saudi Arabia has been focusing on realizing Vision 2030, an ambitious plan to diversify the Kingdom’s economy and transform its society, a key part of which involves reforms targeted towards improving the lives of women in the country.
