This week, the third edition of the annual Misk Global Forum launched in Saudi Arabia’s capital city Riyadh bringing in people from across the globe to the city’s renowned Four Seasons Hotel. This year’s two-day event, entitled “Skills For Our Tomorrow,” brought young leaders, creators, and thinkers to Saudi Arabia to meet with established global innovators in order to explore, experience, and experiment with ways to meet the challenge of change.
Speaking at the event was Shaima Hamidaddin, the forum’s executive manager, who said in her opening remarks, “We want you to be inspired, not just by our speakers, but by your fellow guests.” Hamidaddin was introduced to the audience by Waem Al-Dakheel, the first woman on Saudi TV's Channel 1 to act as an anchor for the main evening news broadcast.
During the event, Hamidaddin highlighted that this year’s event had more than 3,500 delegates from every continent across the globe except Antarctica, a fact she said the forum would work on for its next edition. She also pointed out that this year’s event is the youngest Misk Global Forum yet, and is one that had both youth and women on every panel.
The forum, which is the flagship global platform of the Misk Foundation, a non-profit philanthropic foundation established by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, was recently established as a way to connect Saudi youth to the global economy.
According to Saudi Gazette, this year’s event had 60 interactive sessions and focused on three main themes: “Developing Individuals,” through which the most important skills required to succeed in the future economy were identified; “Adapt With The Interactive Partnership Between Man And Machine,” which establishes a constructive relationship between the two parties; and “Promoting Human Cooperation”, which calls for the development of social skills as one of the most important tools to deal with the transformations of the age.
