In a landmark move that is set to benefit the country, Saudi Arabia recently announced that it has joined the G20 Troika, a three-member country committee chaired by Japan, the current Presidency, Argentina, the previous Presidency, and Saudi Arabia, the future Presidency in 2020.
According to the official press release by G20, the Troika has been established to ensure that previous, current, and subsequent G20 presidencies work together in order to achieve consistency and continuity of the group’s agenda. Within this structure, Saudi Arabia plans to work closely with G20 members and other relevant stakeholders, and it looks forward to a successful Presidency where it will play a leading and constructive role in contributing to a positive and sustainable impact in the region and beyond.
The statement also noted that “Saudi Arabia is undergoing major economic and social transformation guided by its Vision 2030, which is closely aligned with core G20 objectives of achieving macroeconomic stability, sustainable development, women empowerment, enhanced human capital, and increased flow of trade and investment. Working in close cooperation with G20 members and other relevant stakeholders, Saudi Arabia looks forward to a successful Presidency where it will play a leading and constructive role in contributing to a positive and sustainable impact in our region and the world at large.”
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman attended the G20 summit last week in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was received at the airport by Argentina's foreign minister Jorge Faurie. Prior to G20, the Crown Prince spent time touring the Middle East on an international trip dubbed "a tour of brotherly countries."
