Fancy Spending a Night in a Luxe Barrel? Check Out This Quirky Destination

You can now fall asleep inside a barrel after a vineyard tour in these unique hotel rooms. Loacted in the Quinta da Pacheca estate in Douro, Portugal, the premise includes 10 luxury suites built entirely from pine wood and look like giant 30-metre barrels to keep up with the ambiance of the stunning and vast grape-yards.

The estate owners Paulo Pereira and Maria do Céu Gonçalves thought of replicating the barrels used in the wine cellar on the 280-year-old estate, and their dream resulted in giant structures with added doors, decking and skylight window. A stay at this cool hotel costs 250 euros ($283), and each room contains a round bed, walk-in shower, toilet and wardrobe, and comes with air conditioning and wifi. The nightly rate covers the cost of breakfast, a guided tour of the site and wine tasting experience that includes home made jam and olive oil from the region as well as tipples made on the site.

Administration at the estate is very excited at the interest brewing from visitors, as they say that the barrels were a bold architectural project of suites to reinforce the originality of the wine tourism offered at the site. The place oozes of a romantic and idyllic atmosphere, and the barrel rooms are sure to give visitors a unique experience of the nature and significance of the Douro region - perfect for both a honeymoon escape or a friends trip.

Who's ready to experience the majestic barrels of Portugal?
