June of this year will mark two years since Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman ascended to his current role. Under his relatively short time as deputy prime minister chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs, chairman of the Council of Political and Security Affairs, and minister of defense, Saudi Arabia has been going through a truly transformative period in its history. Through its national Vision 2030 plan, which is being spearheaded by the young leader, the Kingdom has been focused on diversifying its oil-dependent economy and reshaping its society through many approaches, a key one being the enhanced rights, improved mobility, and increased involvement of the Kingdom’s women.
To mark this momentous phase in which Saudi Arabia has been working on reforms targeted towards improving the lives of women in the country, lifestyle portal AboutHer has created The AboutHer Global Forum (AGF). This annual forum comes at a pivotal period in Saudi Arabia’s history for its women. That is why it believes that in order to continue the drive towards integrating women into all facets of Saudi society and to encourage their continued involvement in the Kingdom’s economic development, there needs to be productive and supportive platforms such as AGF that engage creative, political, business, and other Saudi female leaders of society who can contribute to shaping the nation’s global, regional, and industry agendas.
Indeed, AGF believes that the progress being experienced in Saudi Arabia today can only continue by bringing together Saudi female changemakers and leaders from within the Kingdom and across the globe who have the passion, drive, and influence to make positive change. With its first ever edition entitled “Saudi Women On The Road To Vision 2030,” which launches on April 16 at the George Washington University, USA, the forum has curated a series of talks honoring Saudi women at the forefront of the country’s advancement and progress, and that aim to also engage panelists and audience members on thinking of tools and methods to overcome current and possible future obstacles Saudi women face.
