Sah El Nom restaurant
There’s nothing more evocative than breaking a fast while sitting at a table surrounded by loved ones. With your family and friends passing over countless delicious platters of Arabic food, whether it’s fresh salads like Fattoush, bowls of creamy Hummus or stuffed pastries, there’s something for everyone when it comes to mezzeh. Plus, of course, dishes overflowing with tender grilled meats, other mains and mouthwatering desserts inevitably follow the table-long array of Middle-Eastern starters.
Here are two top Arabic restaurants in Dubai to enjoy the tastiest Iftars at this Ramadan:
Chival
A homegrown social eatery in La Ville Hotel & Suites, situated in the heart of City Walk Dubai, Chival has come up with a quintessentially Arabic menu this Ramadan.
In the true spirit of the Holy Month, the menu concept allows families and friends to gather and create memorable moments while enjoying the food.
The Arabic chef, Kinan Ibrahim, found inspiration in traditional homemade dishes from his childhood in Syria and has curated a culinary journey of Middle Eastern cuisine.
With a focus on a family-style sharing experience, the alternative Iftar menu starts with a selection of traditional cold mezzeh, a variety of soups and hot mezzeh, including Spinach Fatayer and wood-fired Manakish. For main dishes, diners can tuck into delights like Chicken Biryani, Lamb Shish Barak and Iranian Mixed Grill.
A Ramadan gathering isn’t complete without a sweet ending, and as well as Arabic sweets, the delicious chocolate fountain, pouring unique ruby and milk chocolate, will help make it a fun experience for the young and young-at-heart.
Sah El Nom Bluewaters Island
With its family-friendly ambience and contemporary Syrian Iftar menu with Damascene dishes, Sah El Nom’s newly opened Bluewaters venue is another great spot to enjoy Arabic cuisine.
The set Iftar menu at Sah El Nom Bluewaters Island starts with complimentary dates and beverages, including Jallab, blackberry, yogurt and Kamareddine. And after a warming broth, the choices include Levante-style Lentil Soup, Chicken Vermicelli Soup or Pumpkin Soup, diners get to enjoy the mezzeh offerings.
The wide selection of cold and hot Levante classics includes salads like Tabbouleh or Fattoush, Baba Ghannouj (grilled eggplant rolls stuffed with vegetables, pomegranate molasses, lemon juice and olive oil) and Hummus topped with minced meat and pine nuts or Muhammara (bread crumbs mixed with chili paste, tahini, lemon, walnuts, and olive oil).
Guests can then indulge in the array of signature mains on offer. Lamb Manti (lamb meat wrapped in dough, baked, topped with tomato sauce, served with hot yogurt) is one of the options. Otherwise there’s the Chicken Harissa (whole wheat cooked with onions, garlic, spices and chicken) or Udoli Dolma (cabbage rolls stuffed with bulgur, nuts and lamb chops).
To satisfy those with a sweet tooth, Sah El Nom has added Syrian Baklawa, Maamoul Bel Jebn, Date Cardamom Cake and more. A wide variety of fruit teas, Arabic coffees and hookas are also on offer.
