A graduate of renowned London art school, Central St. Martins and Ecole Lesage haute couture embroidery school, Nafsika Skourti’s unique designs have caught the attention of London’s Victoria & Albert Museum.

Jordanian-born Nafsika looks to her multicultural heritage and identity to define her head turning work. Described as having an “avante garde” aesthetic, the designer’s work explores an “intersection between fashion design and art”, as reported by Harper’s Bazaar Arabia.

Skourti’s collection, to be showcased at the V&A Museum, references a Western aesthetic of denim jackets and wide legged jeans paired with “Amman’s 90s-style, high-octane glitz and glamour”.

Nafsika Skourti’s “The Antiquity Story” is from her AW18 collection and entitled “The Lowest Point on Earth”, which showcases denim jackets with matching flared jeans, embroidered and painted with images of landmarks relevant to the Jordanian-Greek designer’s heritage, including, the Parthenon, Petra and the Dome of the Rock.

It was her ingenious creativity and innovation that attracted the V&A Museum, as Nafsika’s The Dome of the Rock design is positioned amongst over 19,000 relics from the Middle East and North Africa.

The designer’s denim heavy collection features a variety of fabrics, distressed denim, and sheepskin collars accenting the jackets emblazoned with cultural historical sites found in Jordan and Greece. The collection also resonates with the city she studied in, as it embodies London’s unique street style.
