Time Magazine Recognizes Arabs in Its 100 Most Influential People List



This year’s edition of Time Magazine’s annual list of 100 of the world’s most influential people has been released and there are some commendable Arabs on the list. Time’s list aims to highlight the work of change makers, trailblazers, leaders, athletes, activists, inventors, entertainers and people of that ilk, to celebrate their achievements.

Having a spot on this list is a huge honor, and these are the incredibly influential Arabs that made the cut:

Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan of Abu Dhabi

Appearing alongside some of the world’s most inspiring leaders, Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince made the cut and was honored for his “strong decision-making and thoughtful strategies that influence many other world leaders”. Admirers have spoken of the Arab royal and described him as “a long-term thinker” and that he “inspires imitators”.
 

Mo Salah

The Egyptian icon, adored all over the world is a highly influential player in this day and age. Mo Salah has become renowned as one of the world’s best footballers, and is lauded by Egyptians and Scousers (people who hail from Liverpool in the UK), alike. Salah has been complimented on his charm, grace, charisma and someone who has remained humble despite being a world famous success.

Making it on to the cover of Time Magazine, Mo Salah is not just an inspirational athlete – he is influential in his mindset as he speaks about women’s rights within his culture, “I think we need to change the way we treat women in our culture. It's not optional."
 

Rami Malek

Rami Malek has been the name on everyone’s lips since his stellar performance in Bohemian Raphsody, in which he played the iconic Freddie Mercury, and has since won Best Actor at the Golden Globes, a BAFTA and Academy Award for his performance as the late singer and also gained popularity within the Arab world as he is the first Egyptian to have won an Academy Award.

Renowned Hollywood actor, Robert Downey Junior said of Malek’s success, “…more likely it’s yet another testament to hardworking immigrants raising their kids right and pushing our culture toward the light."
