The competition between cafés and restaurants is always in action as every enterprise seeks excellence and innovation. But it’s not always only about the culinary standards, the design and feel of the place are key factors, and we think we’ve locked down one of the top cafés in the world in terms of interior décor.
Yeonnam Dong café 223-14, which was previous 239-20, introduced to the market an exceptional idea that has not been experienced before in this way. A black and white cartoon café, animated to the nines. Once you step into this establishment, you’ll be transformed into a comic fantasy world where everything seems two-dimensional.
atmosphere:
The café is in Yeonnam Dong neighborhood, and is located in the capital of South Korea, Seoul. Black and white strips are the first thing that will greet you, from the walls and floors to furniture, dishes, and cutlery.
Each element and detail is painted white and externally stroked with a black brush to make the objects seem real just like in monochromatic cartoons. It’s like a secret entrance into the comic world. The outstanding pop of color comes from the drinks and food, that are said to be both scrumptious to have and stunning to look at.
Yeonnam Dong café 223-14 was opened back in July 2017, and is said to be inspired by the Korean series, W-Two Worlds, which is a fictional show that is based on a world where the reality and fantasy coincide. With its distinctiveness and unconventionality, it’s no surprise that the café has become one of the most Instagrammable places in Seoul.
