Two Saudi athletes have just been snapped up by WWE. Wrestlers Faisal Kurdi and Hussain Aldagal have just started training at World Wrestling Entertainment's Orlando Performance Center – which is exactly where WWE’s newest talents hone their skills in order to take to the world famous wrestling ring.

Last April, WWE went to Jeddah to scout for new talent for the first time ever, where both Aldagal and Kurdi were trying out and were 2 of 8 selected from 30 participants who hoped to make it to Orlando to train with the wrestling corporation. Also at the tryouts was Mansoor Al Shehail, who became the first ever Saudi and current NXT Superstar, to sign with WWE.

Hussain Algadal is not only on his way to becoming a professional wrestle, but he is also a civil engineer by trade with a sports background in bodybuilding and volleyball. Kurdi, on the other hand, has a wider background with wrestling as a sport, as he has participated in wrestling competitions across the Arab region, as well as having some experience in Muay Thai and other martial arts.

Being two of the latest Arab athletes to be selected by WWE, they’re not the first as the wrestling corporation signed their first Arab female wrestler in October 2017, Shadia Bseiso.

Shadia was discovered by WWE at the try-outs in Dubai in April 2017 and went on to become the first female from the Middle East to be signed by the globally renowned company. Bseiso is Jordanian and is trained in CrossFit and Jiu Jitsu and in a 2017 statement, following being signed, she said, “It is an honor to be the first-ever woman from the Middle East to sign with WWE. Working with WWE is an incredible opportunity.”
“I have visited the Performance Centre and attended the Mae Young Classic,” she continues, “I have personally witnessed the power of WWE and the passion of WWE fans. I look forward to starting on my path to becoming a WWE Superstar.”
