If you grew up in the 90s, we bet there was no other band you were more obsessed with than the Backstreet Boys. Renowned for their number one hits including, Backstreet’s Back and I Want It That Way, the world-famous boyband will be making their debut in Saudi Arabia this month.
On their way to Jeddah Season Cultural Festival, you can expect a spectacular show on June 27th as they take the stage at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Basketball Arena in King Abdullah Sports City, with thanks to Saudi’s General Entertainment Authority who are looking to boost the kingdom’s entertainment and culture sectors.
The Backstreet Boys will be the biggest ever Western act to be performing in Jeddah, but it’s not their first time in the Middle East. One of the world’s most loved boybands, the group of 5 headlined Dubai’s Blended Festival in April 2018, performing for over 10,000 attendees.
Not only will visitors to Saudi’s first ever music festival be treated to a classic 90s boyband experience with the Backstreet Boys, but will also get to attend musical showdowns by Dutch DJ, Afrojack, and Moroccan, Rehab, on 8th July 2019, whilst those who love Arabic music can enjoy the ultimate concert featuring acts of the likes of Syrian popstar, Assala and Saudi singer Rabeh Sagar who will be performing on the 29th of June.
These concerts are one fraction of Jeddah Season’s Sea and Culture festival, as the month long extravaganza is hosting over 150 cultural activities including street performances, interactive plays, art exhibitions, a plethora of food stations and Michelin star restaurants, and even a scavenger hunt around the coastal city.
The phenomenal, first of its kind, festival in Jeddah will come to an end on the 18th of July, so you still have time to make your way over there to immerse yourself in the culture and festivities the kingdom is offering up. Spread out across King Abdullah Sports City, Al-Hamra Corniche, Jeddah’s historical area, and the Jeddah Waterfront, the Jeddah season festival has already seen Arab superstars take to the stage with some of their greatest hits, including the legendary Amr Diab, Mohammed Hamaki and Nancy Ajram.
The kingdom isn’t just drawing the line at Jeddah Season, as it is focusing on bringing bigger acts to Saudi Arabia, including Post Malone, Adele and Shawn Mendes, in a bid to encourage tourism, alliances with local businesses and also increase employment under Saudi’s Vision 2030 plan.
