Nicolas Jebran presented his debut couture collection during the first day of Paris Couture Week, which kicked off on Sunday. During the autumn/winter 2019-2020 runway show the Lebanese designer showcased My Golden Odyssey, an all-around hypnotising collection.
Slightly rebellious and sultry pieces ruled on the runway, whether it was the mini dresses, plunging necklines, cut-outs or thigh-high slits on the long gowns. And as well as the bedazzling glittery dresses, there were those that had intricately detailed embellishments, in addition to some gorgeous slinky, silky pieces. The animated designs and pops of colour like purple and red also helped make the show a resounding success. So did the stunning bridal look that was worn by Lebanese influencer and Jebran supporter Nour Arida, who has signed up with Elite models.
Jebran was made internationally famous by designing Katy Perry’s dress in the Dark Horse video. He has also dressed other music divas like Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Madonna and Beyoncé. Other fashion forward stars and digital influencers who have been spotted in his designs include Kendall Jenner, Maya Diab and international fashion blogger Aimee Song, known best for her online moniker Song of Style.
The 44-year-old designer, who is also renowned for his shoes and bags, started showing an interest in art very early on. Jebran, who started to make his dreams come true when he began attending fashion school, took part in Studio El Fan, a Lebanese reality television show, in 1999, earning second place in the fashion category. This encouraged the creative powerhouse, who has also studied jewellery and accessories design, to establish his fashion house in Abu Dhabi in 2001. Jebran, who is inspired by the likes of nature and architecture, now has a base in Beirut.
