The occasion for some of the world’s most renowned fashion designers to present their new autumn/winter 2019-2020 haute couture collections is an open invitation for fashion savvy stars and influencers to dress up to the nines. And the bright and sunny weather in Paris certainly helped them dish out a multitude of can’t miss moments while they were dressed in their sartorial best.
Let’s start with Céline Dion, who has become the undoubted queen of couture week as she has been serving up ultra high levels of glamour for the last few seasons. Some of her knockout looks this time around included an ivory off-the-shoulder mini dress with giant balloon sleeves by Alexandre Vauthier while attending the French designer’s show. The music icon also looked amazing at the Iris van Herpen show in one of the designer’s signature pleated dresses in red and black transparent netting. The 3-D printed piece looked incredible as she posed in American kinetic sculptor Anthony Howe’s spherical “Omniverse” sculpture.
As Chanel Creative Director Virginie Viard showcased her first solo haute couture collection on a library-themed runway, brand ambassador Margot Robbie nailed front row style while mingling with American Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. Despite the warm temperatures, the Australian actress wore a tweed blazer and tartan leggings. Plus, at the show, Virginie Ledoyen and Marion Cotillard went full French chic, with a casual Cotillard rocking a Chanel T-shirt and cropped pants in rouge leather.
While admiring the exquisite Christian Dior pieces by Maria Grazia Chiuri, A-listers like Olivia Palermo and Shailene Woodley, who shone in a gold glitter-embellished number, also aced the art of sitting front row. Meanwhile, Amsterdam-based Persian beauty Negin Mirsalehi, known for her Gisou hair products and waist-length ombré locks, styled a black frou-frou skirt with a sleeveless top and thick belt. She added a pop of colour with her red checked footwear.
A host of style makers were also spotted at the Valentino and Giorgio Armani Privé shows. Naomi Campbell stole the spotlight while taking in the dresses worn by Gigi Hadid and Kaia Gerber at the Valentino style spectacle. Sitting alongside the designer himself and an angelic looking Gwyneth Paltrow, the veteran supermodel wore an eye-catching multi-coloured graphic-print gown with black, red, burgundy and white stripes, accessorising it with a wide-brimmed mauve hat and high platforms. At Giorgio Armani Privé, the gorgeous Lady Kitty Spencer and Zendaya, who wore a custom cropped Giorgio Armani tuxedo shirt, high-waisted black trousers and super high pumps, lead the best-dressed.
