Last month, Jeddah Season was announced, 41 days of 150-plus events and activities scheduled to run from June 8 to July 18, bringing to the Red Sea port city a calendar of entertainment, sport, culture, and art activities suitable for all. Announced this week as part of Jeddah Season is the X Jeddah Festival, and it already has people talking.
According to various news sources, X Jeddah is a series of free activities and events along the city’s waterfront and includes musical performances, performance art pieces, comedy shows, and more. Saudi Gazette reports that the festival, which is open every day from 5 PM until midnight, is also offering visitors a wide range of shopping, cafes, and dining options.
Whoever you are, X Jeddah has something for you. Theater aficionados can check out its various plays starring a host of Saudi and Gulf artists, stand-up comedy shows by a group of Saudi youth, “Love Factory” shows, and magic shows by the “Laughter Factory.” For those looking for something more on the side of music and dance, the festival’s Marina Area is hosting performances from Colombian and African bands, drum and percussion shows, lighting and laser displays, and more.
From interactive art with the Spanish Fun Carnival, a firework show, bungee jumping, a zoo, giant puppets, and numerous food carts, to weekly cultural shows from countries such as Spain, China, and India, X Jeddah is set to dazzle audiences daily.
As part of its drive to advance its entertainment and tourism sectors, Saudi Arabia recently created Saudi Seasons, a series of 11 Seasons presenting events and programs aimed at transforming the Kingdom into one of the most important tourist destinations in the world. The first season to launch was the Sharqiah Season, which hosted mega events such as Cirque Eloise, Bollywood, F1 H20, and Red Bull Air Race.
