Over the last few years, women across Saudi Arabia have been breaking barriers across sectors, from Dr. Fatmah Baothman, the first woman in the Kingdom and the Middle East to hold a PhD in Modern Artificial Intelligence (AI), to Princess Reema Bint Bandar, the first Saudi Arabian woman to be appointed Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United States. This month, another Saudi Arabian woman is making headlines for her landmark appointment.
According to Saudi Gazette, Princess Doaa Bint Muhammad was unanimously named Supreme Chairwoman by the Board of Directors of the Arab Women Foundation in Dubai. This milestone appointment means that all authorities and bodies that come under the Foundation will now function under the Princess. Her selection for what is the highest post in the Foundation was based on Princess Doaa’s exemplary record and accomplishments within the humanitarian and community work field.
The Princess today is one of the leading pioneers in community, charitable and humanitarian work and an influential figure in the Arab World. The news site stated that she is also the Ambassador of Peace for Children and Young People of the United Nations and the Ambassador of Peace and Human Rights. Amongst her commendable work has been her support for pediatric cancer patients, orphans, and the elderly, as well as supporting community relations for sustainable development.
Speaking on Princess Doaa’s latest appointment, Muhammad Al-Dulaimi, secretary general of the Arab Women Foundation, said Her Royal Highness will provide a qualitative addition to the Foundation’s initiatives and open new vistas for its programs meant for the interest of women in developing countries. One of the Princess’ recent projects, is the setting up of centers for early detection of breast cancer in various countries.
