Earlier in July, one woman made headlines across the global fashion stage for becoming Saudi Arabia’s first model to shoot a campaign for the Pink Collection of Victoria’s Secret. This month, 27-year-old Roz (short for Rozana) is once again making waves, this time for fronting the ad campaign for Guess Accessories autumn collection, with absolutely no signs of her success slowing down anytime soon.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, Roz was born in 1992 in Medina, Saudi Arabia. She then grew up in the Kingdom’s capital city Riyadh, and is now based in Los Angeles, where the Guess campaign was shot by renowned photographers Claudia and Ralf Pulmanns. Today, the Saudi model can proudly say that she has not only worked for high-profile brands like Victoria’s Secret and Guess, but she has also modelled for other leading brands such as Dolce & Gabbana and Maybelline alongside Gigi Hadid.
In a recent piece by StepFeed, it was reported that Roz didn’t initially embark on a journey to become a model. She moved to the United States years back to pursue a degree in interior design but decided to dabble in modeling after taking part in several fashion shows. It was during that period she launched her Instagram account, which today has almost 11 million followers, and from there on her modeling career quickly took off. Aside from modeling, Roz is known as a jet-setting socialite who has attended every major fashion-related launch and event, from Mac Cosmetics to Fashion Nova.
Although many sources have claimed Roz to be the country’s first and only model, she joins the likes of other rising Saudi Arabian models such as Taleedah Tamer, a 17-year-old model who in July 2018 became known as Saudi Arabia’s first couture model turning at the opening of the Antonio Grimaldi couture, part of Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris.
