Having spent 8 days in space, following his launch to the International Space Station on September 25th 2019, Emirati Astronaut, Hazza Al Mansouri, landed safely back on earth on 3rd October 2019. He made history as he became the first Emirati and Arab to dock on the International Space Station.
He entered the Soyuz MS-12 crew ship with NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin on Thursday 26th September to prepare for their return. Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, confirmed a successful undocking from the ISS at 10:37 a.m. Saudi time.
Nick Hague and Alexey Ovchinin are still completing a 203 day mission at the lab along with Hazza Al Mansoori’s two squad mates, Russia’s Oleg Skripochka and NASA’s Jessica Meir, who will continue on as a part of the team.
According to NASA, the crew that landed safely back on earth will undergo a number of medical procedures following their immediate return and just before a helicopter transports them to Kazakhstan’s Karaganda Airport.
The Emirati, history making, astronaut will now join the UAE Astronaut Programme Team from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) for post-mission medical check-ups until mid-October in Moscow.
