3 Biggest Shows from New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020

The city’s most buzzed about shows during the sartorial spectacle.

 Marc Jacobs

Fashion month has ended, but we still can’t stop looking back at the amazing shows during New York Fashion Week. Despite a shorter schedule, there was a host of unmissable moments from the American fashion capital. From explosive performances to fabulous locations (including Tom Ford’s subway runway), and of course, top-notch fashion, we were treated to lots of thrills over the five jam-packed days. Here are three of our favourite spring/summer 2020 shows.

Ralph Lauren

For his show, Ralph Lauren turned a former bank on Wall Street into “Ralph’s Club.” During the See Now, Buy Now show, there was a lot of classic Jazz Age glamour and style, including sharp tuxedo suits, flouncy long skirts with vests, gorgeous red carpet gowns and lots of sequins and velvet.

Janelle Monae

And dressed in a tuxedo vest and ball skirt, Janelle Monáe stole the show with her breathtaking jazz performance at the one-night only Art Deco decorated venue.

Marc Jacobs

We loved the colourful, whimsical and joyful collection from Marc Jacobs, who brought New York Fashion Week to a close. Vibrant hues, sparkles, feathers, flowing florals, plaid pantsuits, enormous gowns, metallic trousers and over-the-top hats come down the catwalk at the Park Avenue Armory. Like the Spring 2002 collection it was a “celebration of life, joy, equality, individuality, optimism, happiness, indulgence, dreams and a future unwritten.”

Tommy Hilfiger X Zendaya

Zendaya

For the second (and last time), the brand and actress teamed up to present the Tommy Hilfiger X Zendaya TommyNow show. The epic runway at New York’s Apollo Theater paid tribute to the style icons of Harlem with a party featuring vintage cars, a choir and a saxophone player. Many of Zendaya’s celebrity friends admired the circa 70s-inspired autumn collection, in collaboration with Law Roach, which included leather bell-bottoms, leopard print coats, black leather dresses, metallic flares, snakeskin, polka dots and silver lamé .
