While fashion lovers are embracing autumn with an updated wardrobe, one of the things beauty enthusiasts are busy with is finding a seasonally-inspired hair colour. And as 2019 hair trends seem to be mainly food and beverage themed, it doesn’t come as a surprise that ginger beer is the one taking over everyone’s Instagram feeds this season.
One of the reasons the copper hue that’s mixed with hints of red and brown is one of this biggest hair trends this season is that it adds warmth, which more and more people are looking for during autumn, and dimension.
As well as being a top choice for a warm hair makeover, this specific shade of auburn with copper-red undertones is very versatile and looks good on just about everyone. While ginger beer looks stunning on a wide variety of hair colours, it also suits various skin tones and brings out the rosy undertones in skin. Plus, it looks amazing whether you’re sporting voluminous and bouncy curls or silky, straight strands.
Things to Consider
However, before hopping on the spice coloured trend, there are certain things to take into account. One of them is to think carefully about your preferred undertones as there are so many options, and then discuss your preferences with your hair colourist. While talking to Popsugar, New York-based stylist Kim Bonondona advised against adding too much red. "If there is too much red, it won't give the same look," she said. "You want to keep [the hair] more in the orange family."
And while lighter-haired individuals can easily achieve the hair colour, it’s a longer process for brunettes and those with darker hair as there’s lightening and lifting, as well as several salon visits involved. Additionally, if you like to change your hair colour regularly, you might want to think twice about rocking ginger beer hair. While red fades quickly, it is one of the trickiest colours to change.
