Hazar Saleh Bogary studied graphic design in the United States of America, with the idea that photography was a hobby and not a profession. But, with the development of technology and social media sites like Pinterest and Instagram, Bogary decided the best way to keep up with such a visual era is to invest in developing her photography skills. She soon specialized in photography in Canada, a move that enabled her to find a close relationship between design and photography, with an eye for fashion photography.
We took some time out to talk to the Saudi photographer about her journey.
On the turning point in her life:
I always thought that after finishing the study of graphic design and specializing in photography, that I would be able to combine both learning experiences, and be able to bring something new to the table.
On her ambitions:
My dream is for Saudi Arabia to become a reference for photography in all its types, because why shouldn’t it? There are a lot of young men and women who have the talent and passion to inspire a global audience.
On her wishes:
I wish there was a school for photography in Saudi Arabia, just like a design school. I also wish we can have an association or a forum where photographers can meet, exchange expertise and have seminars and trainings.
On habits that are conducive to success:
From personal experience, I should say time management. It is the most important thing because one can’t achieve any dream or ambition without it. We need to learn the rules and basis of time management, organize our priorities and move on to achieve our dreams.
On people she is most grateful for:
I am grateful for so many people in my life -- starting with my parents because they supported me throughout my journey. Whatever I do or say to them will never be enough. I would also thank my husband whose encouragement and support is always with me and I’m also indebted to my teachers.
