As the Founder of initiatives like Alnowair and Lulua Publishing, HH Sheikha Intisar Salem Al Ali Al Sabah is undoubtedly committed to making positive contributions. As well as promoting optimal health and wellbeing, the Kuwaiti royal is also known for her endeavours to heal and empower Arab women who have been affected by war and violence via the Intisar Foundation. And one of her latest efforts concerning the charity is her book, Circle of Love. All the proceeds from the book, a celebration of love and peace featuring strong, amazing women who have been shaken by war, will go to the Intisar Foundation.
“We all want to grow in one way or another, and so you either grow your heart, your soul- or both,” Sheikha Intisar has said, and this is the all-embracing theme of the book, which was launched in November with Maison Assouline. The book features 87 prominent, powerful and resilient women from all over the world, who know their strengths and help other females achieve love in their lives. Sheikha Intisar, who dreams for peace in the Arab World, features in the book herself. Another royal is Princess Dina Mired of Jordan, a mother to a cancer survivor and humanitarian and health activist known for her work as a leading global advocate for Cancer Control and Non-Communicable Diseases. The book also includes Hanan Al Hourob, winner of the Global Teacher Prize, and Constanza Cavalli Etro, the director of Fashion Film Festival Milano. Passionate Italian perfumer Giorgia Martone, Omani artist Radhika Khimji and Maria Buccellati, Faith Connexion's First Lady, are others who make the book an interesting read.
As well as countless noble-minded princesses, designers, artists, refugee survivors and entrepreneurs, Circle of Love, a tribute to women who have shown courageous acts through the expression of love, features The Sorority Founder Lisa Tse and Sorority Sister Tracey Woodward. Sheikha Intisar is a Sorority Sister herself, making her part of the trusted circle of international businesswomen, entrepreneurs, leaders and pioneers who have achieved unique things and inspire professional women. Top-notch models like Mariah Idrissi, the first Muslim hijab-wearing model, also add value to the book. British-Iranian Yasmin Le Bon, a 1980s supermodel who recently walked the catwalk for Jean-Paul Gaultier’s spring/summer Haute Couture show, is another player. Afef Jnifen, the 53-year-old Tunisian-Italian model, actress and TV presenter, makes her mark too.
Circle of Love highlights how these women dealt with their own challenges to inspire others. They share their stories of unreserved love, often for the first time, with the world to support to influence. And to make the book even more extraordinary through some captivating frames, Sheikha Intisar collaborated with one of the world’s leading photographers, Max Vadukul. The British photographer noted for his “art reportage” photography, is a master at transforming portraits into works of art.
