Mohamed Ashi, the Saudi couturier is behind some of the red carpet’s most iconic looks, and after his SS 2020 collection “Emotions”, well, we were moved by his incredible talent.
Ashi Studio’s creations are standalone memorable pieces: both contemporary yet timeless, and a moment in time to look back on. The designer who has adorned the likes of Beyonce and Bollywood royalty, Sonam Kapoor, weaves a story into each collection. In Spring 2019, he paid tribute to the 50s and 90s with “Letters From Margaret”, and in Fall 2019, it was “The Silence In The Mirror.”
His most spring / summer collection, “Emotions”, explores “the overflow of feelings experienced during the disconnection from reality and transcendence of dreams and the subconscious,” and features Mohamed Ashi’s signature dramatic shapes, dramatic sleeves and trains in a palette of grey, white and gold.
Gold is especially significant to the designer in this collection as he explains: “It is reflective and acts like a mirror, allowing one to reflect in the mirror and wonder where the journey will continue to.”
Having garnered international acclaim for his red carpet looks in Hollywood, Mohamed Ashi’s creations transcend trends. From Aishwariya Rai wearing a custom creation at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival to Cardi B’s ruffled gown at the 2018 Grammy’s, we are always excited to see who will be dressed by the visionary Saudi designer and as he once said himself: “Opulence is an element of drama, a vision of a dream, and people like to dream.
