With more and more women in Saudi Arabia joining the workforce, the Kingdom introduced Wusool, a female-only transport system that helps over 60,000 Saudi women get to and from work.
What’s so great about this system is that it reduces the cost of transport for Saudi women who work in the private sector by providing subsidized travel via the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), for a safe commute through partnerships with taxi companies via licensed apps.
By providing women with a safe and secure daily commute to work, KSA forsees an increasing number of women joining the workforce.

The HRDF has recently taken strides to ensure that the largest number of applicants in the Kingdom benefit from the transportation program to show support for women working in Saudi’s private sector. The system requires women to enroll themselves in the program, and the employee “should be registered for less than 36 months under the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) and her monthly salary should not exceed SR8,000 ($2,132).”
Benefits also include financial support backed by the HRDF, which covers 80% of the cost of a daily commute, with a fixed amount of SR800 per month.
