Pippa Middleton's royal-adjacent wedding to James Matthews was the British high society event of the season. This meant apart from Middleton’s gorgeous, bespoke Giles Deacon guipure lace dress, there was a parade of hats, fascinators and headpieces for us to scrutinise. Since a millinery piece is the British wedding staple that ups the stage stakes rather than a bag, shoes or jewellery, the guests weren’t afraid to show individuality.
The bride’s nearest and dearest kept things fittingly classy or low key. Her sister, Kate Middleton, wore a blush fascinator featuring a flower appliqué to match her satin Alexander McQueen dress, while her mother, Carole Middleton, arrived in a light pink fascinator that had an appliqué going through the brim. Middleton’s friend, Donna Air, also wore a subtle and chic number in off-white. However, there was an array of standout innovative shapes, large accents and colourful options as well. From a bright pink fascinator decorated with white feathers and a pink flower to one with a black tulle and flower design, there were some truly eye-popping headpieces.
Whether you’re planning to make an understated or outlandish millinery statement any time soon, flick through for some inspo!
