A milestone program was launched entitled the Women Empowerment Program on the sidelines of the Forum for Empowering Women in the Communications and Information Technology Sector in Saudi Arabia. This initiative focuses on highlighting the contributions and accomplishments of Saudi women in the fields of communications and information technology, and aims to nurture a system that attracts and supports the right skills for the industry, build a competitive and sustainable sector, and create more work opportunities for women in the field.
Speaking at the event last week, Wadha Bin Zarah, Director of the Women Empowerment Administration in the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, explained that the program’s launch reinforced the need for women in the sustainable and successful advancement of Saudi Arabia. She also pointed out that the program is in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals, a key one being to increase the participation of women in the labor market and enhance their role across sectors.
“This will contribute to empowering the national cadres in the sector so that it achieves the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 that aims to build a digital society that contributes effectively to achieving comprehensive development and building a better future for the Kingdom,” she was reportedly quoted as saying by Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
According to the news site, the larger forum saw a significant 20 female technology experts participating in the event that aims to support women’s involvement in the field, tap into and build their capabilities, raise digital awareness across the board, and enhance a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship that empowers girls and women to pursue careers in the sector and seek more leadership positions.
