US First Lady Melania Trump landed in the Saudi capital of Riyadh for the Arab Islamic American Summit in a black Stella McCartney jumpsuit embellished with a Saint Laurent gold python buckle belt and a chunky chain-link necklace, finishing off her look with a pair of pointy Christian Louboutin pumps.
While the absence of a headscarf in the first lady’s attire hit the headlines globally, others in the Kingdom found the get-up to be classy and conservative. The loose outfit which almost resembled the abaya with its wide-leg silhouette, flared long sleeves and high neckline, piqued the interest of fashionmongers and international media outlets, praising her for her elegant yet modest choice.
“Melania Trump before leaving the United States vs. Melania while landing in Saudi Arabia. Respect for the country’s traditions,” one Twitter user tweeted with a thumbs-up emoji. “Not only modest, but elegant at the same time.”
On the evening of their visit to the kingdom while being escorted to a royal banquet by King Salman at Al Murabba palace, the first lady donned a floor-length fuschia Reem Acra dress with structured shape and cape silhouette. She paired the look with some matching pointed toe heels and a diamond necklace. Again, she was praised for maintaining her modesty with the choice of her outfits.
The following day, she wore a khaki-coloured Ralph Lauren safari shirtdress that featured a collar, buttons from top to bottom and hemline that cut just around the knee, during her visit to the Riyadh’s American International School. Accessorizing it with gold bangles and a chunky brown belt that had thick white stitching, the first lady completed the sleek look with a zebra-patterned Manolo Blahnik pumps that featured a high stiletto heel.
For the Arab Islamic American Summit, however, the first lady was seen wearing a white pantsuit with a black bow-top underneath, finishing off her stylishly elegant look with a pair of black snakeskin pumps.
Step aside, Melania. Make way for Ivanka!
The younger Trump girl had the Saudi’s heads turning with her stylish entrance in the Kingdom, which even initiated a hashtag trending on Twitter with over 50k tweets. The US First Daughter Ivanka Trump stole the spotlight in a long-sleeve printed Cédric Charlier maxi dress and a pair of tan pumps when she landed in Riyadh alongside her husband Jared Kushner.
Ivanka’s royal banquet attire was a silver detailed gown. She finished off her tour with a powder blue suit to meet a group of Saudi female leaders.
