Abu Dhabi has emerged as a regional arts centre with global reach in recent years, and the Department of Culture and Tourism – AbuDhabi (DCT AbuDhabi) is ensuring their ambitious five-year cultural strategy for the emirate stays on track during the COVID-19 pandemic. CulturAll is set to help Abu Dhabi’s cultural centres, museums, landscapes and initiatives reach their audiences by transforming physical offerings into virtual ones. While we can’t physically enjoy cultural events just yet, the new initiative by DCT Abu Dhabi allows everyone to learn, discover and enjoy culture online.

Launching across all of DCT Abu Dhabi’s Culture Sector social media accounts, CulturAll will include dynamic content from Manarat Al Saadiyat, Qasr Al Hosn, Berklee Abu Dhabi, Cultural Foundation and Abu Dhabi Art. The cultural venues and experts will be producing content across a range of themes including traditional crafts and practices, contemporary art, historic sites and music, specially created for viewers to consume and engage with via social media channels.
“DCT AbuDhabi is committed to promoting and disseminating culture to the widest possible audiences. We have created CulturAll as a way for those in Abu Dhabi, the wider UAE and indeed across the globe to continue to learn, engage and expand horizons when it is not physically possible to visit sites,” HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, the Chairman of the department that has a core mandate to preserve and promote heritage, arts and tangible and intangible culture in the emirate, said.
“We strongly believe that culture is a fundamental and invaluable building block of society. Active cultural engagement not only stimulates creativity but brings us together, reinforces our collective identity and becomes a support that we can draw upon. It is our hope that CulturAll can aid in strengthening our sense of unity and keeping our hearts and minds open to inspiration, no matter where we are in the world.”
The interactive CulturAll content will be curated under three themes. #CultureAllCreate will provide guidelines, demos, tutorials and instructions that will lead audiences to engage with the initiative by creating and sharing their own content. Meanwhile, #CultureAllExplore allows viewers to explore and discover via video footage, recordings and published materials the many DCT Abu Dhabi concerts, talks, exhibitions, festivals and conferences. And #CultureAllMeet is an opportunity to learn about various ideas and concepts from the international experts DCT Abu Dhabi works with, whether sessions with artists, historians, gallerists, architects and more.
