The European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad in the Netherlands still happened this year but virtually of course. Four Saudi students, guided by the King Abdul Aziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Education Ministry, took part in this competition which closed on April 20.
Meet the Kingdom’s young female math superstars: Lara Munqal, Thanaa Al-Haidari, Wujud Bahwini from Tahfiz Al-Qur’an school, and Rafa’ Qanch. These four Saudi girls with unparalleled math skills were ready to took over the remote challenge after undergoing rigorous study programs and being selected at training forums by Mawhiba.

The olympiad, which took place in Egmond aan Zee city, pushes for more female students’ participation in mathematics and Saudi Arabia has amassed 15 awards since 2012: including two gold medals, four silver, six bronze and three certificates of appreciation.
