Prominent Saudi journalist Manal Faisal Al-Sharif has been appointed as the managing editor of AlBilad, one of the kingdom’s oldest Arabic dailies established in April 1932.
Having served in the media industry for nearly two decades, Al-Sharif brings her long-serving experience and journalistic abilities to the newspaper.
Al-Sharif holds a bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies from King Abdul Aziz University and a Diploma in Media and Journalism Management from Northwestern University in Chicago. She also received a diploma in investigative writing from the Nahar newspaper in Lebanon.
Al-Sharif is the first Saudi female journalist to receive training in the United Nations program in 2001. Throughout her 20 years in journalism, she worked in some of the Kingdom’s major media organizations including Al-Eqtisadiah, Al-Watan, Madina and Okaz. Her last position in Okaz Organization was as head of specialized publications.
