If you’ve watched everything on Netflix and Amazon Prime, and are itching to do something creative – luxury fashion label Alexander McQueen might have something to keep you occupied… The internationally renowned luxury label, best recognized for its skull motifs, is inviting its fans and followers to make paper dolls.
Taking inspiration from the ones made within the Alexander McQueen atelier, these paper dolls – or “maquettes” – are used to aid designers in visualizing the placement of fabric and embroideries on garments on a small scale and now you can do the same at home with some beautifully patterned paper!
The brand has released a tutorial video featuring a member of the McQueen design team making a maquette on the Alexander McQueen YouTube channel, to inspire and encourage people to get creative and take part. After making one, followers are asked to upload images of their very own paper doll which will subsequently be posted on the British fashion maison’s social media channels.
