Sharjah has just announced the launch of their first ever drive-in cinema and it's set to open pretty soon… Expecting to welcome movie lovers from July 1st, the open air cinema will screen films every night, free of charge and solely on first come, first serve.
The conceptual cinema will be situated at Madar at Aljada, a newly opened entertainment hub which is perfect for family outings. “Movie Nights At Aljada", will be launched in collaboration with Urban Entertainment who are launching the drive-in cinema for the first time ever in the UAE.
This unique experience will enable cinephiles to watch a film every evening at 8 P.M at the drive-in space, which can accommodate up to 150 cars at a time. Parking spaces will be allocated to people who can then access the sounds and dialogue of the film they’re watching by tuning into the open cinema’s radio frequency.
Guests are not permitted to leave their cars during the film: if anyone needs the restroom, they must inform the drive-in cinema’s security staff. These rules also apply to ordering snacks and by 'snacks', we mean a vast array from delectable options from 17 different cuisines, which can be enjoyed through contactless delivery.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Arada, said in a statement, “Movie Nights at Aljada is a significant addition to the list of attractions on offer at Madar at Aljada, and it is also our way of thanking the Sharjah community for its strength and resilience during these exceptionally challenging times. We look forward to welcoming guests back to Aljada and providing them with a safe form of entertainment.”
It looks like the drive-in trend is contagiously spreading! Vox Cinemas in Dubai have also opened a drive in cinema at Mall of the Emirates and following suit, Reel Cinemas is set to open one at The Dubai Mall.
