More and more Arab celebrities are joining the Oulo tribe, disrupting the celebrity-fan relationship. Since its recent launch in the Middle East, over 50 of the region’s most loved and influential names from the worlds of TV, social media and music have joined the simple-to-use video gifting platform. Stars like Bassel Khaiat, Bader Saleh, Razan El Moghrabi, Shaila Sabt, Leila Ben Khalifa and Karen Wazen are using Oulo.com to script and record memorable, personalised video messages that are being ordered as gifts to loved ones. Even this year’s Ramadan stars, including Arwa and Rajeh AlHarthi, have been busy on the platform.
One of the A-listers in the spotlight for giving a fan an unforgettable moment to treasure is Ali Jaber. The well-known Lebanese TV personality and media guru filmed a heartfelt video thanking Rima, a Lebanese nurse who has been bravely fighting the COVID-19 outbreak with her colleagues.
The video that’s trending sees a sincere and charming Jaber echoing the gratitude we all feel for those working on the frontlines. Rima, a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses winner, was overcome with emotion while watching her favourite star thanking and congratulating her.
“I am humbled by the courage and commitment of all frontline medical staff during this time of crisis. Watching the nurse’s reaction as she viewed the message was heartwarming – recording the video only took just a few seconds but her reaction and the joy it brought will last a long time,” Jaber, who has pledged to donate all the proceeds from his Oulos to charities and altruistic initiatives, said.
Many other celebrities, who get the chance to conveniently have one-on-one engagement with their fans, are also donating proceeds to support their favourite organisations. The videos, which come at different prices, really are a great way to surprise close family and friends.
