With wins including the “L'Officiel” Woman of the Year award, two Gulf Connoisseur awards and the ‘Chevalier de Légion d’Honneur,’ France’s highest decoration, Ingie Chalhoub has been showered with accolades. And the Creative Director of the INGIE Paris recently added one more to her mantelpiece when she was awarded the Ethical Fashion Award by the Monte Carlo Fashion Week committee.
The award for ethical and social engagement was presented to her during a live Instagram interview with the founder of the event, Federica Nardoni Spinetta. The gesture acknowledges the Franco-Lebanese designer’s continuous commitment to sustainability in fashion and philanthropy. Chalhoub continually shows profound respect for the environment and sustainability, whether creating INGIE Paris collections, which demonstrate her ethical values through timeless, elegant pieces made with the most noble fabrics, or supporting other environmentally friendly brands.
“I’m truly honoured to receive the Monte Carlo Fashion Week Award for Ethical Fashion, it is our duty to preserve our planet. Fashion today is about sustainability and values, we must look at different ways to encourage and engage in sustainable fashion,” Chalhoub said in a statement. “Consumers are increasingly aware and attracted to brands that have profound commitments to sustainability and strong social responsibility values.”
Chalhoub, who founded her luxury fashion house in 2013, is also known for her humanitarian work. A member of the UNICEF Leadership Circle, Gulf Area, she participates actively in UNICEF campaigns to raise awareness about the plight of children in Jordanian and Lebanese refugee camps. Her work highlighting the children’s need for support, education and basic sanitation is particularly important during the Covid-19 pandemic.
