The Saudi Ministry of Interior made an announcement that the nationwide curfew will be lifted across Saudi Arabia from 21st June 2020 at 6AM. The announcement also came with the news that all commercial and economic activities would also be permitted to continue but must maintain and adhere to strict sanitary guidelines.
Despite a new approach to resuming “normal life,” the Kingdom is currently maintaining the suspension international flights, visiting visas and exit and entry at land and sea borders. This will be upheld until further notice. The suspension of the Umrah pilgrimage was announced in March in a bid to deter the spread of COVID-19. At present, it was announced that the Hajj pilgrimages will take place in 2020 but in limited numbers under social distancing measures.

Now that lockdown has been lifted, citizens and residents must strictly adhere to the precautionary measures announced by the Saudi Ministry of Health. These precautions include wearing masks and gloves, social distancing, and avoiding any gatherings of more than 50 people. The outlined sanitary measures are subject to change at any given time by the ministry. In order to keep people safe and ensure they are sticking to the safety guidelines, the ministry is encouraging people to download the Tabaud and Tawakkalna apps to keep up to date on any news regarding the pandemic.
With a view to allow citizens to resume their normal daily lives, the lockdown has been lifted after a 73 day lockdown following an outbreak within Saudi Arabia. Eid Al Fitr was also not celebrated within the Kingdom as usual due to the threat of the virus spreading further.
