The tragic explosions that shook Lebanon last week have left thousands of victims in its wake. Thousands have been killed, injured and have had their homes destroyed by the devastating blast. The world has taken notice and people are doing everything they can to help the city rebuild somehow. Arab and Western celebrities we all know and love are using their platforms to raise awareness and donating what they can to Lebanese charities.
From Karen Wazen to Mohamed Hadid, regional and international celebrities are expressing their condolences online and urging people to help Lebanon in any way they can. Bella Hadid, who’s father lived in Beirut prior to living in America, posted on Instagram, “my eyes and heart are crying for Lebanon. I am sorry you have to endure this kind of disaster, my brothers and sisters,” and pledged that she would be donating money to charities in Lebanon.
Amal and George Clooney have also donated around $100,000 to three charities to help the victims of the horrific blast, who need aid to help rebuild their lives and homes. In a statement to People magazine, the Lebanese human rights lawyer and her American actor husband said, “We’re both deeply concerned for the people of Beirut and the devastation they’ve faced in the last few days.”
In addition, Ariana Grande took to Twitter to share a donation link, calling for her fans and followers to help in any way they can, with the caption, “My heart, strength, and condolences are with Lebanon and everyone affected by this tragedy. Please support/donate if you’re able to, I will be doing so too.”
One Direction’s ex front man, Harry Styles, also shared the same link and expressed his condolences, “Thinking of all those affected and sending love to everyone in Beirut. I’ve donated to the link below. If you’re able to, please give what you can,” he tweeted. Dua Lipa followed suit on Instagram as did British supermodel, Naomi Campbell, who posted images of herself on a previous visit to Beirut and added a donation link to her Instagram bio.
Here's how you can help, every dollar counts.
