On August 13th 2020, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai announced an initiative that aims to provide medical training to over 1 million people all over the world.
The initiative offers to healthcare workers expert knowledge that they may not have had access to previously. Sheikh Mohammed’s latest initiative induces the values of his newly launched medical research center, the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Medical Research.
Making the announcement on Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed explained that the initiative is “part of the UAE’s international responsibility to support the global medical sector.” The concept is held in collaboration with Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and is expected to recruit over 140 experts across 67 educational institutions where specialized training in medical services will be provided to medics all over the world.
The center focuses on the study of infectious diseases following the outbreak of COVID-19. The state-of-the-art medical research facility opened in August 2020, and on his tour of the newly opened center. “Medical research is an integral part of prevention and medical security in the UAE. Supporting research helps ensure sustainable economic, social, and human development,” he added.
