Research think tank Deep Knowledge Group just released an updated report of the top 100 safest countries for Covid-19. Maintaining the high ranks, Saudi Arabia, which jumped four places from the 17th rank in the June 2020, ranked 13th in the report released this month.
The Kingdom is devoted to maintain its Covid-19 precautionary measures to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on public health, the economy, and communities. As the G20 president, Saudi Arabia has been leading the global response in the fight against the virus and making sure G20 countries are all in line with safety measures.
Germany topped the list, replacing Switzerland back in June and the United Arab Emirates achieved the 9th rank. The United States now ranks number 55, still behind Hungary, Vietnam, China, Malaysia, and Bulgaria. According to Forbes’ report by John Koetsier, “the ranking isn’t what most people expect: it’s not just about how many infections there are right now, or how many deaths COVID-19 has caused.”
So how does it work? The Deep Knowledge Group assessed multiple medical, economic, and political factors, which were added up to determine country’s score. Here are some examples of measurements: social cohesion with lockdown and quarantine measures, government cooperation, healthcare system, emergency handling, etc.
The global think tank monitored more than 140 parameters and considered more than 35,000 data points - a major increase in characteristics evaluated since the last report.
“Deep Knowledge Group’s new COVID-19 special analytical case study is designed to classify, analyze and rank the economic, social and health stability achieved by each of the 250 countries and regions included in its analysis, as well as the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats or risks that they present in the battle against the global health and economic crisis triggered by COVID-19,” the group says.
