Saudi Arabia proved once again that relaxing lockdown measures and opening up the country doesn’t equate a rise in cases. On Sunday October 4th, the Kingdom saw a decline in reported Covid-19 cases reaching 400, a new record low since five months ago. The Saudi Ministry of Health also announced that the number of critical cases has fallen by 7.6 percent.
Since the pandemic erupted, the Kingdom records 336,387 total cases, 321,485 recoveries and 4,875 Deaths. As for polymerase chain reaction tests (PCRs), the number of Covid-19 tests reached a whopping 6.63 million.
Saudi Ministry of Health spokesman Dr. Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aly warned people that even recovered patients should still take preventive measures “because they can still suffer from complications and transmit the virus”, according to Arab News.Regarding Saudi National Day celebrations, Al-Aly assured that the slight increase in number of cases didn’t negatively impact hospital capacity. “Thankfully there weren’t many cases and they had no effect on the curve,” he said.
