For over a year, the world was gearing up for Expo 2020, set to be the largest event ever staged in the Arab region, a six-month expo by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, due to the ongoing pandemic, plans to launch the expo this year were shelved for good – or so it seemed. This week, it has been announced that the expo will be back next year from October 2021, and the search for volunteers for Saudi Arabia’s has already begun!
#Expo2020 will now begin on October 1, 2021 and will run up until March 31, 2022 under the theme of sustainability.https://t.co/JM4IWaXyXC

Indeed, the around 1,000 young volunteers – both men and women above the age of 18 – being recruited for the pavilion will man this groundbreaking structure that is expected to draw in millions of visitors from across the world to discover to the treasures and wonders of Saudi Arabia. This is an opportunity for the country to build its youth capacity, to help its young nationals build their talents and skills.

The Kingdom revealed the spectacular design of its huge pavilion earlier this year, which showed a rectangular, reflective structure titled at an angle, reported to be second in size only to that of the UAE pavilion, and covering an area the size of two football pitches (approximately 13,070 square meters). According to various reports at the time and the expo’s Twitter page, the pavilion has been designed to provide immersive experiences for visitors and aims to highlight the country’s welcoming character, culture, and openness, to the world. The structure is indeed innovative in design, with a facade that opens like a large window into the future.
