The coronavirus pandemic has changed the travel and tourism industry for years to come. Companies have remodelled their services to meet sanitization standards and social distancing requirements. Saudi Arabia was quick to respond to Covid-19 and cushioned the travel and tourism crisis by making the Kingdom a safe destination to visit.
Saudi Arabia ranked 6th in a list published by Wego Travel Blog called “Safe Places to Travel During the COVID-19 Pandemic. The only Middle Eastern country present in the list, the ranking criteria followed the EU methodology for travel risk assessment.

Saudi daily Arab News reported that "classification methodology includes epidemiological criteria, countries’ ability to significantly decrease and stabilize the spread of the virus for a sustained period of time, health system capacity, and centers with large-scale testing capacity to detect and monitor infections." Saudi Arabia’s COVID-19 mortality rate continues to decrease with a recovery rate is 96.9 percent. With testing en masse in place, the Saudi Ministry of Health has set up clinics and testing hubs such as Takkad and Tettaman, which has helped hundreds of thousands of people around the Kingdom since the outbreak.
