Dubai’s ruler, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE has stated that the UAE is going to be the first in the world, to recover economically from the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A number of projects underway are expected to launch in 2021, with one of them being the UAE’s plans to host the 2020 edition of the Gitex technology exhibition.
In an announcement on Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed said, “Gitex will be the most important and realistic global technical event in 2020 and the UAE will be the fastest country to recover in the world. Our institutions have proven their ability to adapt. We will conclude 2020 with a global event and we will start 2021 with a series of projects and major initiatives. [Next year is] our 50th anniversary and our golden jubilee, and it will be different from all years,” he added.

The Gitex exhibition kicked off on December 6th at the Dubai World Trade Centre and will run until the 10th of December 2020. A major step towards reviving the UAE's economy, the must-visit event can be attended in person, under the strict social distancing regulations.

Dubai’s leader, Sheikh Mohammed also added, “[The event will have] the participation of 200 important technology investment companies and 350 speakers in artificial intelligence, smart cities, financial technology, the future of education and health, and the future of remote work.” The 40th edition of the exhibition sees over 1,200 companies from 60 countries presenting the latest technological advancements from leading industry innovators to global investors over the week.
