The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has launched an initiative to support thousands of needy Pakistanis during the coldest months of the year, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The agency elaborated that through the 2020 winter project, the Riyadh-based centre aims to distribute 22,550 winter bags and 45,100 quilts to disadvantaged nationals living in different parts of Pakistan.
The South Asian country is one of the biggest recipients of KSrelief’s aid money and humanitarian operations, and the latest project provides support via the quilts and winter bags containing some clothes, blankets and other seasonal supplies. Some of the people who have already received the winter staples include those living in Buran village in the country’s Khyber Pakhthunkhwa province. The governor of the northwestern province, Shah Farman, expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud while speaking for the government and people of Pakistan. He also recognised all the help from the Kingdom’s cititzens and the different ways KSrelief has been providing assistance in Pakistan.
KSrelief has already accomplished 84 projects, costing approximately $100 million, in Pakistan. They vary from education, healthcare, water, sanitation and hygiene to emergency camps and community. The relief agency, which has one of the largest humanitarian aid budgets in the world, has been working in 44 countries, including Yemen, Palestine, Syria and Somalia.
