Abu Dhabi has been stringent with its COVID-19 regulations for the safety of the city’s residents and citizens and in a new campaign, the capital’s health officials are trying to ensure that all UAE nationals and residents get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Supervised by the Department of Health — Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, the “Choose to Vaccine” campaign looks to encourage people to get the free vaccine to protect themselves from the virus.
In a statement, chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health spoke about the campaign and said, “As we enter 2021, we want to ensure our people continue to be safe, which is why the vaccines have undergone rigorous trials to ensure their safety, efficacy and quality. I hope you choose to vaccinate to protect your health and the health of our nation.”
Abu Dhabi has taken major strides when it comes to protecting the emirate from the virus by stationing official check points at its borders whereby only those with a negative COVID-19 test result can enter, along with bi-weekly testing for employees within particular sectors – so the free vaccination campaign is one that could allow people to live normal lives once again.
Dr Jamal Mohammed Alkaabi, undersecretary of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health also added, “The approved Covid-19 vaccines are safe and will give recipients the immunity needed to protect themselves. I hope everyone chooses to vaccinate to help get our lives back to normal.”
The free vaccine in question is China’s Sinopharm Covid-19, which was approved by the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) in 2020, after trials had concluded that it was effective in protecting people from the coronavirus with minimal to no side effects.
Director General of Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, supports the free vaccine and is urging citizens and residents to get it as he said, “Getting vaccinated is the simplest and most effective way to stay safe,” adding, “Covid-19 will not disappear unless we fight back and the most effective way to do that is with vaccines. I hope everyone chooses to vaccinate, to break the infection chain and be a part of victory against this pandemic.”
