Since stepping down from his royal duties, it seems Prince Harry has a lot more freedom to use his voice and words, and in this case, for a good cause.
The Duke of Sussex has written a foreword in a new book dedicated to the children and young relatives of the frontline workers who have passed away due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Entitled, ‘Hospital by the Hill,’ the book is written by Chris Connaughton and is about a young person whose mother worked at a hospital and dies due to the coronavirus. The book is being distributed to children who have lost their parents in a similar way since last year.
In his foreword in the book, Prince Harry recalls his own pain that he suffered at the age of 12 when he lost his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, in a car accident as he writes, “While I wish I was able to hug you right now, I hope this story is able to provide you comfort in knowing that you’re not alone. When I was a young boy I lost my mum. At the time, I didn’t want to believe it or accept it, and it left a huge hole inside of me. I know how you feel, and I want to assure you that over time that hole will be filled with so much love and support.”
This isn’t the first time the British royal has been vocal about the loss of his mother, and he has contributed his time and efforts to a number of charitable causes since, including one that addresses mental health awareness.
In his foreword he also added, “We all cope with loss in a different way, but when a parent goes to heaven, I was told their spirit, their love and the memories of them do not. They are always with you, and you can hold on to them forever. I find this to be true.”
