Selena Gomez is a singer, songwriter and actress, who is about to star in a new psychological thriller called “Spiral.” Gomez will star as the lead character, a former influencer, who is addicted to social media which is consequently causing her body to “fall apart.” The fascinating role is in place to highlight the social media influencer industry and those who happen to push boundaries to dizzying heights.
This isn’t Selena Gomez’s only acting gig as she has just wrapped up shooting her series which will be on Hulu, “Only Murders In The Building,” in which she plays a crime enthusiast who ends up trying to solve a murder that takes place in her apartment building.
The film “Spiral,” is Canadian photographer and artist, Petra Collins’s directorial debut, and has worked with Selena in the past on her music videos, “Fetish” and “Bad Liar.” Taking to social media to share the exciting news of the movie, Collins captioned, “I’ve been spiraling about this for 3 years and so excited to finally share!!!!”
Much-loved rapper Drake is executive producing the exciting film, alongside Sumaiya Kaveh and Matthew Budman via Forest Hill Entertainment.
The film has been in the pipeline for some time now and Gomez had previously discussed the role and talked about her she doesn’t have much of an attachment to social media and employs a social media manager to run her social accounts. She once told Vogue Arabia, “I woke up one morning and looked at Instagram, like every other person, and I was done. I was tired of reading horrible things. I was tired of seeing other people’s lives. After that decision, it was instant freedom. My life in front of me was my life, and I was present, and I could not have been more happy about it.”
