Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb and his Greek counterpart Harry Theoharis are working together under the realm of the global “Tourism Recovery Summit”. According to Saudi Gazette, they both signed an action plan recognizing the importance of tourism in the economic development of both countries.
The new joint plan enhances cooperation between Greece and Saudi Arabia, and aims to improve the following areas: tourism promotion, the development of specialized tourism such as medical tourism, shopping tourism, luxury tourism, sport, and adventure tourism , and gastronomic tourism.

Tourism investment, which also falls under the new joint agreement, builds on information and expertise exchange on tourism legislation such as licensing and classification procedures. Boosting air connectivity between Athens and Riyadh and other pivotal airports is also key in the tourism sector.
In light of the coronavirus pandemic, the two ministers are working to set up efficient systems for mutual use of vaccination certificates to bolster safe and smooth travel between the two countries.
