In a message of hope and optimism, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, shared that he believes that “the worst has passed.”
Praising the work of the UAE and the emirates as a collective, and the innovative and rapid way in which the country responded to the pandemic at a cabinet meeting in Abu Dhabi, the ruler of Dubai discussed several topics including, the development of the support procedures of the medical sector and a brief about key reports, including one that covered the plans of action undertaken by the government in order to ensure the health and safety of all.
The cabinet meeting also determined the introduction of new initiatives and policies that aim to streamline work in several sectors, and issued federal law regulations for the pharmaceutical industry. “We have approved the policies regulating medical and pharmaceutical products in the country, to ensure the quality of all national medical supplies at all times around the country,” said HH Sheikh Mohammed. The Cabinet also passed a resolution regarding the adoption of a unified health protocol for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nation border ports. The protocol would be under WHO guidelines.
In the UAE, the number of COVID-19 cases is at an all-time low and currently stands at less than 1000 cases since 24th August 2021. Moreover, 18 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine has been administered, with 75.6% of the UAE population fully vaccinated, according to the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.
With Expo 2020 in Dubai just a matter of weeks away, the city has been making significant changes, including in-person learning for schools resuming once again, and the UAE issuing visit visas to travelers who have been vaccinated with a World Health Organization-approved vaccine.
