UAE fashion lovers, mark Ocotber 26 on your calendars as Extra Busy because that’s the date Giorgio Armani is planning a spectacular fashion show in Dubai. The exciting addition to the emirates’ fashion calendar is a new leg of the nomadic “One Night Only” series. The must-watch event will mark the 10th anniversary of the Armani Hotels in Milan and Dubai. It will also coincide with Expo 2020, which is set to kick off on October 1 and run until March 31, 2022.
In a statement, the renowned 87-year-old Italian designer, who hails from Piacenza, said he was “very happy to return to Dubai after 11 years.”
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Armani Group twice cancelled a Dubai show to reveal Armani’s cruise collection, coinciding with the reopening of the Dubai Mall’s Giorgio Armani boutique. The first one, scheduled for April last year, was bumped to November, but regional fashion fiends have had to wait.
During earlier years, the designer known for his relaxed yet luxurious ready-to-wear and elegant, intricately beaded evening wear has held “One Night Only” shows in various cities around the world. The series has landed in London (2006), Tokyo (2007) and Beijing (2012). Then in 2013 two shows took place in Rome and New York, while Paris was home to the one in 2014. An event was supposed to take place in Shanghai in 2018, however technical and logistic reasons put it to a stop.
