Jasmine Tookes recently wed her partner of five years, Juan David Borrero. And while exchanging vows with the Snapchat executive, the American model looked like a vision in a fairytale custom-made gown by none other than Zuhair Murad.
Tookes, a former Victoria’s Secret Angel, told “Vogue” she instantly knew she wanted the Lebanese designer to create her wedding dress when she walked in his first couture show. And for her lavish enchanted garden nuptials, which took place in Quito, Ecuador, Borrero’s homeland, the world-renowned couturier certainly didn’t disappoint.
“Thank you for making my classic, timeless and beautiful wedding dress come true. It is a piece of art!" the 30-year-old beauty wrote as a caption alongside the behind-the-scene images she shared on Instagram.
The breathtaking off-white gown was inspired by the Helen Rose creation Grace Kelly wore to wed Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956. Featuring a 15-foot-long train, it has intricate lace detailing on the veil, around the high-collared neckline, the long, tight sleeves and down the bodice. However, the detachable shiny, dramatic and voluminous bell-shaped overskirt is pretty minimal, with some delicate lace detailing only on the upper half. The dress is also embellished with embroidered sequins and pearls.
“Curated with superior execution techniques and adorned with the brand’s signature handmade embroideries, the custom-made #ZuhairMurad bridal gown is graced by Duchess silk, Italian tulle, and the designer’s long-time favorite sophisticated French lace,” Murad’s namesake brand shared on Instagram.
The Ras Baalbek-born design genius, who added a ready-to-wear bridalwear line in 2011, also shared a congratulatory note on his personal Instagram account.
“My dear Jasmine, you are glowing and absolutely breathtaking. I'm happy to have been a part of your special day.
“May the years ahead be filled with love and joy for you both,” Murad, also the mastermind behind the dresses Chanel Iman, Devon Windsor and Sofia Vergara wore on their big days, wrote.
The bride, who met Borerro, the son of Ecuador's Vice President, during a business lunch while she was being hired to promote Snapchat’s Group Stories, accessorised with custom white satin heels by CFDA American designer Sarah Flint. As her fairly classic and traditional look was quite striking, Tookes kept her jewellery clean-cut, wearing just a pair of diamond earrings by Ritani and her huge seven-carat diamond engagemnet ring by the same jewellers. Meanwhile, her beauty look was the work of Leah Pike and Russian Nureev, her regular glam squad.
After the couple tied the knot at the Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, a Catholic church where models Josephine Skriver, Sara Sampaio, and Shanina Shaik stood as bridesmaids, the guests headed to a picturesque flower-filled reception venue. The romantically-designed hacienda, which even had flowers gracing the ceiling, was decked in candlelight and included two big bars and an impressive dance floor. During the extravagant soirée, the numerous A-listers were treated to wonderful music by a violinist, as well as several bands, and scrumptious food by celebrated Ecuadoran chef Alejandro Chamorro.
